This is probably the best research internship for undergraduate students in the earth sciences. Not only do you conduct your own research, but you have the chance to publish your results and present them at the American Geophysical Union’s Fall Meeting in San Francisco. It was a summer I’ll never forget.

RESEARCH & DISCOVER INTERNSHIPS

The Research & Discover program ends May 2012. The Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space (EOS) is considering new ways of engaging undergraduate students and others in groundbreaking research.

Research & Discover internships were available to students ending their junior year of college. Relevant coursework in the Earth Sciences (environmental studies, biology, chemistry, mathematics, geology or other earth sciences), strong academic records, and an interest in contributing to advanced research in Earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences were requirements. Participants received a stipend, room and board and support for presenting their research at the American Geophysical Union conference. Following a summer at UNH, participants had a second summer research internships at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Successful Research and Discover interns could also apply for a one-year graduate fellowship at UNH.
